Meet Emmanuel Adanu, a YouTube content creator who diversifies his income not only by creating content but also by promoting affiliate marketing links on his platform and through web development. He has been creating YouTube content for about five years since he realized he could share his skills and earn money from them.

Before he started content, here’s what he did

“I was in school and working as a freelance writer. I jumped from one online business to another until I found video content creation, and then I just focused on that.” 

How did you find video content creation? 

“In 2020, I began making videos about tools people could use to achieve their personal and professional goals. It started with a group on WhatsApp where people wanted to learn what I was doing.” 

However, as the group grew, re-recording videos became tiring, so he decided to upload them on YouTube.

“That video got more views than the number of people in my group at the time, and that’s when I realized the power of YouTube. Over time, I started adding affiliate links to the tools I discussed in my videos, so if people buy through my link, I make money.” 

After his NYSC service year in 2021, he continued creating more videos, building websites, and writing for blogs on the side—and he’s stuck with that ever since.

What does a day to day in Emmanuel’s life look like? 

“It depends on my priorities for the day. Most days, I work on a video—I create and edit it. When that’s done, I check in on my clients. Currently, I’m building a website for a client.”

These tasks keep Emmanuel motivated, and when he feels overwhelmed, he unwinds by playing a game.

How has content creation and affiliate marketing been? 

“I earn between $3,000 and $5,000 every month through affiliate marketing, along with the added benefit of having an online community where I can recommend products they trust and often purchase.

The great thing about affiliate marketing is that I don’t have to worry about the logistics; the product owner handles everything, and the money goes straight to my account.”

Emmanuel emphasizes that the key to success in affiliate marketing, which ties closely to video content creation, is consistency.

“If you keep putting out videos, brands looking to sell products will reach out to you, making it easier to create passive income. Over time, you’ll have links for different products in multiple places. I’ve gotten quite a few sign-ups this way, plus brand sponsorships. “Once you start, don’t stop. Show up consistently, and you will get better. Keep posting even if you’re not getting the views or likes you hoped for. One day, the numbers will come, and everything will work out just fine.”
