Selar Creator Summit 2024: Event Recap

 Africa’s largest creator platform, Selar hosted the third edition of its annual summit on September 20th – 21st 2024. The 2024 Selar Creator Summit was a remarkable two-day virtual event, gathering Africa’s leading minds from media, finance, content creation, and leadership under the theme “Living the Pan-African Dream as a Creator.” 

This summit offered creators practical insights and strategies for advancing their careers, featuring over 20 speakers including; Moe Odele, Wode Maya, Joshua Chibueze, Financial Jennifer, Othman AbdulRasheed, Tunde Onakoya, Dimeji Ajegbile, Janet Machuka, Itiayo, Patty the Strategist, Joel Nanauka, JayOnAir, Hauwa Lawal, Tomiwa Aladekomo, Diana Ajayi, Angel Anosike and Eke Urum –  across four-panel discussions.

Kicking off with an opening keynote by Milton Tutu, Selar’s Chief Marketing Officer,  the event emphasized the importance of collaboration, innovation, and authenticity in shaping Africa’s future. Moe Odele’s talk on balancing work and life as a digital nomad resonated deeply with creators striving for sustainability in their careers. The finance panel, featuring industry leaders like Joshua Chibueze and Eke Urum, offered actionable tips on financial freedom, while Tunde Onakoya’s heartfelt session on storytelling explored its power in creating empathy and social impact.

The summit explored how African creators can reach global audiences, with Dimeji Ajegbile sharing his journey from personal storytelling to building a thriving content creation business. The social media panel delved into the use of digital platforms to expand personal brands, and the media panel led by Tomiwa Aladekomo emphasized the importance of authentic African narratives in the media landscape.

On Day 2, Chude Jideonwo’s keynote encouraged creators to take control of their narratives and build a Pan-African media empire, followed by leadership expert Joel Nanauka, who discussed building resilient teams in uncertain environments. The closing panel brought together JayOnAir, Hauwa Lawal, Wode Maya, and Angel Anosike, highlighting how collaboration can help African creators shape global culture.

Concluding with an inspiring recap from Milton Tutu, the summit left creators empowered with actionable insights and renewed motivation to pursue their dreams and make an impact in the creator economy.
