How Ifeyinwa Omesiete Is Using Selar To Improve Parental Education Through Pediatric Nutrition

Ifeyinwa Omesiete is a pediatric nutritionist using Selar to provide clinical and non-clinical nutritional health support to children and their parents.

Ifeyinwa Omesiete is a pediatric nutritionist. This means she provides clinical and non-clinical support to children and their parents which ensures optimal nutritional health. With her brand, Nutrition4Kids, she has offered over 6000 families practical solutions to help health and non-health issues for children through food.

Through timed consultations, she provides support where parents can discuss their child’s picky eating habits, allergies or developmental delays. She also provides them with one-off classes, courses, and boot camps that address these concerns in detail.

With eight years under her belt, she understands the unique struggle that comes with the standardization of nutritional support for brands and small businesses that want to venture into the production of baby food or child-friendly products.

How did Ifeyinwa develop an interest in paediatric nutrition?

Before building her brand, Nutrition4Kids, she worked in a clinic where she managed their social media content. At the time, her goal was simple: find easy ways to promote the clinic’s resources to a social media audience.

“I wanted people across Nigeria to be aware of the resources the clinic had and also have access to the information. The clinic was in Lagos so primarily I was focused on that axis until COVID-19 hit.”

What changed after the pandemic?

Ifeyinwa realised that location was a huge deterrent to meeting her goals of awareness and lead generation and so they ventured into digital products.

“With the pandemic and a goal to reach more people, we turned our physical products into digital products. This expanded our audience. We started using Flutterwave to sell our products.”

With a new audience and a new means to reach them, however, one thing was still missing.

“People outside of Nigeria were interested in the products we sold, but Flutterwave, at the time, had not introduced international transactions for merchants.”

How did she find Selar?

“I started talking to colleagues in the same sphere, what platforms they used to sell digital products. A recurring answer was Selar.”

At that point, the request for international sales was piling and the clinic was desperate for anything. Shortly after, she left the clinic and launched her own brand focusing on nutrition for kids. With the flexibility to do anything she wanted, she decided to give Selar a try.

What was using Selar like on the first try?

“The first thing that stood out to me while using Selar is the automated email that goes out to customers when they don’t complete the purchase. That was a game changer for me because I thought about all the times people must have tried to buy products from the clinic and it either failed or they forgot about it.”

With that, Ifeyinwa was sold. But it goes beyond the reminder emails.

“I also had more information about the people trying to buy my products. With Selar, I have access to their emails, phone numbers, and contacts. This means I can nurture them as clients.”

Access to these leads allowed her to convince them to go from the ‘Interest’ stage to the ‘Intention’ stage and finally, they made the purchase.

Life using Selar

Once Ifeyinwa started using Selar, it opened her world up to a new set of people who were interested in her resources.

“I’ve had purchases from Ghana and Sierra Leone. I didn’t even know people in Ghana were listening to me. I also didn’t know that my largest population were in Canada.”
Another thing Ifeyinwa loves about Selar is that it puts all of her brand’s resources in one place.

“Before Selar, I used to have my resources on multiple platforms, and it was getting difficult to manage all of them. With Selar, people can access my subscription programs, digital courses and even book consultations on one page.”

This makes her workflow seamless and eliminates having to hire different people to confirm payments and manage registrations or consultations.

“Selar is also excellent with data analytics. I can generate CSV files that give details about available products and their sales month-on-month. With this information, I know what to adjust and do more of. Whether it’s generating financial reports for my accountants or just being able to see what products I need to phase out, Selar, provides all the data to manage my business effectively.”

Some challenges despite Selar

One big challenge for Ifeyinwa is building her brand’s credibility and visibility.

“I didn’t have a physical presence anywhere. I am a service-based business, I don’t sell physical products. People often find it difficult to associate digital products with credibility.”

But Selar helps with this.
“I have the details of my clients. I can reach out to them for reviews and share those reviews with sceptical people to make the next move. Selar also has an affiliate marketing network that connects you with people who can push your products to a wider audience.”

Looking ahead

Ifeyinwa is looking forward to expanding her brand across the world and providing more nutritional health support to families that need it.

“As long as it deals with child nutrition in the clinical space, count me in.”
