With Over $1,000,000 Paid to African Creators In 2021 and 60,000 Users, Selar is Taking the African Creator Economy to the Moon 🚀

The creator economy of Africa is just in its infancy, and at Selar, our goal from inception has been to champion the growth of this sector considering how important it is for the general economic progress of Africa.

In the last 18 months, we’ve recorded phenomenal growth of  ~2,000% in transactional volume from African creators monetizing their knowledge and selling digital products on Selar.

Founder and CEO, Douglas Kendyson said:

“This milestone of paying over $1,000,000 to African creators in 2021 is more than just a bragging right. For us, it means a million things; as a bootstrapped team of 9, building a product that serves this many people and giving them the means to earn a living in a way that they’ve never been able to, speaks volumes! We’re very passionate about people monetizing their knowledge via digital products and services, and it’s a very exciting feeling to watch this industry grow to what it is today, so this milestone clearly validates our mission.”

On the surface, Selar is a robust e-commerce store builder for creators to sell any kind of digital product or service. Products like ebooks, courses, training, memberships, subscriptions, e.t.c.

However, beyond that, we’re empowering a whole new sector of Africans being able to monetize their knowledge and earn from selling digital products, something that wasn’t this easy to do before.

We’re at a time where typical jobs are losing their value for the new generation. With the rise of the digital age, digital skills, and jobs around these digital skills are taking the centre stage. Selar shines brightly in this space for anyone looking to capitalize on the digital economy via digital products and services.

Having top creators like Sisi Yemmie, Fela Durotoye, Mount Zion Films, Steve Harris, Tricia Biz, NaijaBrandChick, Jimi Tewe, and much more use Selar to sell their digital products to their global audience, you’ll strongly agree with us that Digital Products are taking a center stage in the African Creator Economy.

What does this mean for our creators?

We’re going full throttle! Over the next couple of months, we’ll be releasing a slew of amazing features & products on Selar that further drive our commitment to growing the African creator economy.

A question we always ask ourselves when we think of our product is: “How can we help our creators sell more?” and that’s a driving force for how we make decisions today.

Affiliate Network

Affiliate marketing has grown in popularity over the years, with Africa not being an exception. Interestingly, one of our most popular features on Selar today is our affiliates feature, and it’s very simple; you can add an affiliate to your Selar store and have them earn affiliate commissions when they facilitate a sale — Selar has automated the process for this so seamlessly. You can read more about that here.

We’ve seen how our users use this feature to quadruple their sales and now we will be building on that to give them more.

Affiliate marketing is now one of the foremost means for people to earn money online – by promoting products, and with our inventory of over 35,000 products from amazing creators, we’ll be opening our network to affiliate marketers to find great products to promote.

With our upcoming affiliate network, anyone can find great products on Selar, and when they promote it and facilitate a sale they get a commission — increasing the sales reach for our creators while also giving people a new way to earn a living in this digital economy.

Marketplace

Every day we see so many amazing products added to Selar, and now we want to showcase them to the world in grand style! If there’s one thing we’ve learned in the last year, it’s that the products our creators sell translate across different countries and cultures.

We see this as a new way for our creators to reach an even bigger audience and make more sales selling products! The Marketplace will not just help our creators sell more of their products, but also help our creators reach a global audience!

USD DOM Account Settlement for Nigerians (powered by Flutterwave)

In the next couple of months, Nigerian creators on Selar will be able to receive USD in their Nigerian DOM account when they make sales to their international clients all over the world! We’ve partnered with the Flutterwave team for this, and we’re very excited to roll this out in October.
